The music ministry at Plymouth Park UMC personifies the motto of the greater United Methodist Church: “Open hearts. Open minds. Open doors.” We support and complement your worship experience, provide an opportunity to offer your time and talent to serve the Lord, and welcome you to place where you can find fellowship and fortification in Christ. The music in the three worship services is our communal offering to God: whether you sing, play an instrument, hum, or tap your foot.
“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, ALL the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come into His presence with singing.” (Psalm 100: 1-2)
Nowhere in this passage—or any other place in the Bible—does God require His people to take music lessons for years before participating in worship music; I do not require that either. If you want to learn and grow as a part of this vibrant music ministry, we have a place for you. If you feel that you utterly lack musical aptitude, we treasure gifts of time and non-musical talent. We open our doors to any and all who wish to fellowship with us: musically or otherwise.
“Sing to the Lord a NEW song, for He has done marvelous things.” (Psalm 98: 1a)
This serves as the guiding principle for the music ministry team at Plymouth Park UMC. Fret not; you will still sing your old favorite hymns and songs, and we need your help to find out what they are. If you to keep an open mind to new ideas, approaches, and concepts that we bring, we promise to honor your requests and wishes to the best of our abilities.
We are here to know Christ. Together, let us make Christ known: through music.
